I was talking with an old plumber friend of mine on the jobsite one day. As usual, the conversation turned to tools. He mentioned his crew had broken or bent three pipe wrenches on that particular project—three!
Of course I took this as a challenge. Over the next few months I spent hundreds of hours designing what I believe is the finest pipe wrench on the market bar none.
Obviously my biggest concern was strength. So I made sure each wrench was drop forged, not cast like the cheapos. I also used an I-beam design to give the body added rigidity and then heat-treated the entire wrench, creating a super-hardened metal that’s virtually indestructible.
For the top jaw, I made sure to precision mill the adjusting surface then added a knurled adjustment ring to make for smooth and hassle-free adjustments. All that was left was to make a version in every size. Today you can choose from 12”, 14”, 18” and 24” models.
