When my sons were younger, I would always coach little league baseball. To measure the distance between bases for practices, I’d use an old open reel tape. I’d measure out 60 feet, then wind it all back up, crank by crank, for what seemed like hours.
Needless to say, I had one goal in mind when I started designing my Gear-X Open Reel Tape Measures. The Gear-X Tape eliminates extra winding thanks to a 3:1 gear ratio, making the rewind speed 3 times faster than traditional open reel tapes. (Only 9 seconds to reel in a 100’ Gear-X Tape.)
